With the Olympic torch now officially handed over to Great Britain in preparation for the London 2012 games it gives Pobjoy Mint great pleasure to offer you a spectacular new coin to celebrate this momentous occasion.


The design depicts the Great Wall of China on the left representing Beijing and the Clock Tower or Big Ben, as it is more commonly known, with the Houses of Parliament on the right of the design which represents London.  In the centre of the design is an athlete, carrying a lit torch, who is portrayed to be running from Beijing to London.   Around the surround of the design is a motif of the kotinos wreath.  At the bottom of the design are several Maple leaves indicating the winter Games which are being held in Canada in 2010.
